Samantha Kaplan

Samantha Joan Kaplan, 28, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 6th, 2017 in her home in Chico, CA. while surrounded by family and friends. Displayed in various places in her home is the saying "Live a good life. And in the end it's not the years in the life, but the life in the years." Nothing could apply more perfectly to Samantha. She traveled all over the world, served her country in the Navy, graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, had a successful career--including changing her path when she realized the one she was on didn't bring her joy, was victorious over her first bout with breast cancer and gave generously of her time and leadership skills to the local cancer community, became a homeowner, pursued her passion for dog training, and most important, she fell in love and had a spectacularly beautiful wedding to the man of her dreams. If she lived this much in just 28 years, imagine what she could have done with more. And therein lies the tragedy. Fortunately, the mark she left on the world, and on the hearts of the people who love her is both strong and indelible. She will be with us forever. Samantha leaves behind her husband Ryan Kaplan, father Michael Cosentino, mother Sandra Sim (Bryan), brothers Kevin Cosentino (Diamond), Brandon Spack (Kaylene), Brett Spack and sisters Jessica Lack and Briann Sim. Samantha will be laid to rest at Glen Oaks Cemetery in Chico on Wednesday, December 13th 2017 at 2:00pm and is open to friends and family. Her celebration of life will follow at the Elks Lodge at 3:00pm. Instead of sending flowers we feel that Samantha would have liked her friends and family to send donations that will go towards providing Feather River Cancer Center patients with COZY warm blankets in her memory.
