Samuel Charles Arrage was born July 14, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York. He died peacefully at home on February 20, 2017. He attended the Boysville of Michigan Catholic High School. Upon graduation, he immediately enlisted in the Marines and served in Vietnam in 1968. Sammy was an eternal optimist who made “honest women” of his all girlfriends. He married eight times. He worked at a steel mill in Michigan, in a Kentucky prison as a guard, and as a waiter at Caesar’s Palace. Sammy excelled in finding employment and leaving it. The only thing he left more than marriages was jobs. As a young man, he moved to Las Vegas and his brothers soon followed. Eventually the whole family ended up on the West Coast. Sammy is survived by his mother, Genevieve Arrage; a sister, Sherree; two brothers, Johnny and Sonny. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles, and a younger sister, Sally. He never had children, but he adored the children of others. Sammy had eleven nieces and nephews, and he especially enjoyed being “Sampa” to his newest nephews. Sammy retired in Las Vegas and lived his life watching sports with friends, sharing three-foot subs, and drinking Peak tea. A close friend noticed that Sammy was especially joyful on the day he died. Burial of Remains will be held at Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr., Boulder City, NV on March 22, 2017 at 12:40pm. Celebration of life: Following the funeral service at the home of Kit and Bob Turner, Henderson, NV @ Anthem Country Club.

Sammy always was a ladies man. Here he is ringing in the New Year 2000 with the ladies of Stout street. Kevin and I will always remember this generous fun guy who always welcomed us on our visits to Palm Springs. We want to thank him for his service to our country as a Marine. It cost him dearly and we appreciate that. Rest in peace my friend.

I met Sammy in Dec/Jan 1968/1969 in Camp Pendleton, California. I was 18 and had recently graduated Parris Island. Upon arrival, I really didn't know anyone and Sammy befriended me . Unfortunately when we went to Vietnam, even though we were in the same company we never crossed paths. That will always be my loss! Despite the short time we spent together I never forgot Sammy, his kindness and and his great sense of humor. I will forever be thankful I had the chance to spend time with him. From the bottom of my heart I send my humblest condolences to his family. To Sammy, SemperFi Marine and friend!!
