Samuel Chester Parkinson
April 26th, 1958 - March 31st, 2016
Samuel Chester "Sandy" Parkinson III, peacefully and unexpectedly passed away at his home in Oak Ridge on Thursday March 31st 2016. Born April 26, 1958 and a Fayetteville native-Sandy graduated from Western Carolina University in 1979 with his Bachelor in Emergency Medicine as an EMT-Paramedic. Sandy's EMS career began with Catawba County EMS, migrating to Guilford County EMS where he proudly served his community for 20 years before retirement. After his time as Practice Administrator for Dr. Mary John Baxley, in Greensboro NC, he again proudly served his community working for Piedmont Triad Ambulance and Rescue for many years. Born to Sam and Louise Parkinson, he was the third of four children, with his younger brother John and sister Susan preceding him in death. His heart lived fully in the beauty of the wilderness, the grandeur of the mountains, his continuing love for Jackie, and his devotion to his son Drew. The brotherhood of Fire, Police and EMS he firmly loved and lived for over 40 years. All friends are invited to attend our gathering for him at the Piedmont Triad Ambulance and Rescue (PTAR) Base 9, located at Sandy Ridge Road near Colfax at 1 pm (13:00) on Saturday April 9th. Memories and stories of Sandy's adventures are encouraged to be continued and shared at Steak Street at 4 pm (16:00) located on Hwy 68 near Jamestown. Memorials can be donated to the Wendover Spay and Neuter clinic in honor of his beloved dogs - Dave and Bruce. Lambeth-Troxler Funeral And Cremation is assisting the family.
