Samuel Benjamin Yevgeniy Nugent

Samuel Benjamin Yevgeniy Nugent was born in Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia on June 6, 2007, and was adopted by his parents on June 9, 2008. He spent his early years in Gainesville, Florida and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado the summer before third grade. He had recently completed his freshman year at Air Academy High School. Sam was a delightful, kind, loyal, gentle young man. He had a smile that could light up a room. Those that knew him well said he was a great listener and encourager. When Sam developed a passion for something, he went all in. As a child, this included the Cars movie, Legos, and Minecraft. As an older boy, his passion became clear for all things football. He loved throwing a football with family and friends, playing Madden on his phone or Xbox, cheering for the Chicago Bears, and playing the actual game of football any chance, he got. Sam had a relationship with Jesus and enjoyed spending time in the Bible with his dad, and with the student's ministry at Woodmen Valley Chapel. He also loved drawing, spending time with cousins and friends, and snuggling with his dog Wrigley. In the last year, Sam struggled with mental health challenges and substance use. He passed away while missing from home. Many details about his passing remain unknown, but we put our hope in one day seeing Sam again for all of eternity—in fullness and joy, free from his struggles in this life. He is survived by his parents, Ben and Melissa Nugent; and his sister, Vivian Nugent of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandparents, John Nugent of Greensboro, Georgia; Patricia Nugent of Portage, Michigan; and Stephen and Sharon Anderson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
