Sandra Gail Burton

Sandra Gail Burton, 75, of West Columbia, SC passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on October 4, 2024. 

Sandra “Sandy” was born on September 30, 1949 in Sylacauga, AL to the late Elizabeth Isabell Blackmon and Otis Franklin Blackmon. 

Sandy was a beloved wife, mother, nanny, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many who was known for her gentle spirit and the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her. 

Her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Russell Burton of West Columbia, SC; daughter, Bobbie Slice (Dave) of Chapin, SC; grandson, Levi Fallaw of Chapin, SC; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Strappel (Jim) of San Angelo, TX and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Elness; grandsons, Brian Owen Jr. and Dustin Owen; brother, William “Bill” Blackmon and numerous other family members and friends.

The family would like to give thanks for the loving care she received by the nurses and staff on Spence Place at Lexington Extended Care in Lexington, SC and to the nurses and staff of Amedysis Hospice Care for all of their support.

There are no services planned at this time. 

Memorial donations in memory of Sandra may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or the American Cancer Society.
