South Hadley—On January 9, 2021, Sandra L. (Jackson) Fusari, 77, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Sandy—as friends knew her—was born in Holyoke on August 22, 1943, the daughter of the late Thomas and Rosamond (Halkyard) Jackson. She went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 40 years, working at Buckley Nursing Home and Renaissance Manor. She was dearly loved by all of her coworkers and was a strong advocate for the elderly. On August 8, 1964, Sandy married Henry A. Fusari and they built a full life together over the past 56 years. The two loved to travel, especially spending time on Cape Cod at her family cottage. Their annual trip to Ocean City, MD was a much-anticipated tradition. For the couple, life was about being with friends and family, always sharing stories, laughter, and good food. Over the years, her famous Thursday night Canasta games were always filled with chatter as The Ladies “solved” the world’s problems. Henry and Sandy were both very dedicated parishioners for many years of Church of Christ Congregational in Granby. Sandy was a lifelong member of Eastern Star. An avid gardener, she shared her passion with her sister, Eleanor Edge, who predeceased her. Her green thumb had her garden overflowing with day lilies, the handmade sign at the end of the drive inviting passersby to take some home. Her day lilies live on in the yards of all of her children. Sandy was a dedicated grandmother; her children would call, looking for their own kids, who, without fail, asked for “one more night” at Gram’s—the answer was always “yes.” Sandy was proud of the family she built above all else. In addition to her husband, Henry, Sandra leaves behind her daughters Sally Poudrier and her husband, Paul, and Kristen Roy and her husband, David; her sons Thomas Fusari and his wife, Laura, and Joseph Fusari and his wife, Joanne; her 12 grandchildren: Brandon, Nathaniel, Michael, Allison, Olivia, Taylor, Caralyn, Mara, Alexandra, Daniel, Samuel, and Matthew; her 8 great-grandchildren: Cayden, Caleigh, Jackson, Julia, Sophia, Hunter, Noah, and Finn; as well as many extended family members and beloved friends. Services for Sandra will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Church of Christ Congregational, 235 State St, Granby, MA 01033. Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home was entrusted with Sandra’s care.
