Sandra Jean Hensley

Sandy passed away peacefully on November 25, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born to Mozelle Oliver on August 24, 1940 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Over the years, Sandy lived in a number of places across the country including Scott City, Missouri; Kansas City, Missouri; Denver, Colorado; Salt Lake City, Utah; Surprise, Arizona; and Olympia, Washington. Sandy graduated from Illmo-Fornfelt High School in Scott City, and attended a year at South Eastern Missouri State University in Cape Giradeau. She married Paul Wayne Hensley on September 12, 1964. Sandy had several jobs over the years, including time as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone, an administrative assistant for Scholastic, and an administrative assistant for Washington State Attorney General’s Office. Sandy was a kind, loving, giving and thoughtful person. She cared for her children while they were growing up, and then she took care of her husband for years when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Her strength and courage were never-ending. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, cousin and friend. Sandy enjoyed church and Bible study, quilting, golf, travel, bowling, genealogy, and spending time with family and friends. She was a Deacon at Grace Community Church in Surprise, Arizona. She is survived by her husband, Paul Hensley; sons, Todd Hensley, and Timothy (Sara) Hensley; daughters, Stephanie (Oliver) Hurd, and Stacia Hensley; and grandchildren, Eden Wicks and Reed Hensley. She was predeceased by her mother, Mozelle Oliver; daughter, Paula Hensley; uncle/aunt, Glenn and Martha Elliott; and cousin, Mary Ellen Hoffman.
