Sanford "Ike" C. Perham
December 14th, 1919 - April 26th, 2017
Sanford C. "Ike" Perham, Jr., 97, of Gloversville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Palatine Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Born December 14, 1919 in Gloversville, he was the son of the late Sanford A. and Catherine Fonda Perham. Ike was a lifelong resident of Gloversville. He proudly his country during WWII in the Marine Corp from 1942-45 earning the rank of Master Technical Sergeant. Ike was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific Area from February of 1944 to September of 1945. He saw combat action against the enemy in Okinawa and received numerous awards and decorations for his service. Ike worked for Glove City Dairy as a laborer where he dedicated many years of service. He then went on to work for Curtin-Herbert, Inc. in Gloversville as a laborer until his retirement. Ike also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his cherished wife of 69 years Cecilia Naish Perham; son Charles "Chip" Perham (Loretta); daughter Charlotte Conyne; Grandchildren John Kucipak (Laura), Melissa Perham, Danielle Sitz (Matt), William Conyne, James Conyne (Merlinda), Kelly Hendershot (Rich) and Corey Perham (Nick); Great Grandchildren Christopher Kucipak, Madelynn Sitz, Lilianna Hendershot and Sharon Hendershot and sister-in-law Jean Perham. He is predeceased by his sons Clifford S. Perham and Robert "Bobby" Perham; Brothers Kenneth, Elmer, Robert, James and Raymond Perham and Sisters Dora Patterson, Shirley Wagner, Eleanor Chase and Ruth VanVranken. A calling hour to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will take place on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 2-3 P.M. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A service to celebrate Ike's life will be held on Friday, May 19 3 P.M. at the funeral home with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Ike's memory to the Mayfield Servicemans Club, P.O. Box 514, Mayfield, NY 12117 or to the Lions Clubs International Foundation, 300 W. 22nd Street, Oak Brook, IL 60523-8842.
