Sarah Reese Crump was born in Greenville, SC and spent her early childhood there. Her parents were the late Raymond and Lois Reese. She moved to Asheville, NC and graduated from Stephens-Lee High School, Class of 1948, and remained active with the alumni association. She married James Ben Crump in 1949. To this union were born 3 children: Raymond Crump of Asheville, NC, Diane Crump Hightower (Eddie) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Marcus Crump (Danette) of Atlanta, GA. She is also the grandmother of two; Caressa Hightower and Marcus Crump (Little Mark).She also has a brother DuPont Cunningham ( Angela and Eric). She worked for Square D Electrical Manufacturing Company in Asheville, and retired in the mid-1990’s. She was a life-long member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and was a faithful member of the Sanctuary Choir and Sunday School. In June 2012, she moved to Somerset Court Assisted Living in Winston-Salem, NC, and later moved to Trinity Elms Health and Rehabilitation Facility. A number of cousins and family members in Greensville, SC are left to mourn her loss: Robert Wilson (6 children), Janice Webb (3 children), James A. (Sandra) Hurst (2 children), Horace Mays (3 children), Harrison Huggins (1 child), Joseph Huggins (3 children), Dr. Ruth Bergin, Catherine Ann Cunningham Kinnard of Pontiac, MI, Alice Hurst Green (5 children) of Allentown PA, and Dr. Joseph Eddings (5 children) of Savannah, GA, cousin Eleanor Hurst and her beloved church family and a host of friends. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be 12:00 Noon Monday, April 25, 2016 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 47 Eagle St., Asheville, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:00AM. Service Information
