Sarah Estelle Dodson

AUBURNDALE - Mrs. Sarah Estelle Dodson, age 88, a resident of Auburndale, passed away New Year's Day due to a stroke at Lakeland Regional. Mrs. Dodson was born July 8, 1925 in Malvern, Alabama to William Chester and Ida Bell (Whitaker) Pelham. She was the founder of the New Castle Credit Union in New Castle, Delaware. She was also the executive secretary for New Castle County. She and her husband started out as snow birds and then in 1996 moved to Auburndale full time from Delaware. She enjoyed sewing, photography, computers, I phone and loved her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepdaughter Carol Bennett; 2 brothers Reginald & Joe and sister Mary. Estelle is survived by her: husband of 45 years: Earle F. Dodson, Jr. of Auburndale, FL, daughter: Dr. Patricia (Frank) Hurff of Jacksonville, FL, 2 stepdaughters: Nancy Bennett of Wilmington, DE, Pam (Georgene Endy) Thomas of Auburndale, FL, 2 brothers: Leon (Dorothy) Pelham of Lakeland, FL, Bill (Mary) Pelham of Maysville, NC, 2 sisters: Annette Powell of Plant City, FL, Jeannette (Jack) Powell of Auburndale, FL, 5 grandchildren: Harry, Scott, Debbie, Bruce & Nicole, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation's in Mrs. Dodson's name to: Cornerstone Hospice, 2590 Havendale Blvd., Winter Haven, FL. 33881. A memorial service will be 4:00 PM Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the Kersey Funeral Home, 108 E. Lake Stella Dr., Auburndale, FL. 33823.
