Sarah Linde
June 5th, 1967 - May 25th, 2016
LINDE, Sarah Glass (Owens) of Gulfport, passed away peacefully after a short illness at Bayfront Medical Center on May 25, 2016. She was 48 years old. Sarah was born June 5, 1967 in Cambridge, MA to John Glass from Boxford, MA and Sally Poynter of St. Petersburg, and grew up in Weston, MA. Sarah attended Weston Public Schools and graduated from Cushing Academy in 1985. She earned her BA in Education from Ohio University and later received her Masters Degree in Special Needs Education from Leslie College in Boston. Sarah was a very proud teacher for many years at Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA and often spoke with pride of her many students whom she loved, and the innovations in special needs education and communication assistive devices she helped develop. Sarah later moved to St. Petersburg where her mother, Sally Poynter, lives. She continued her work with blind children working with Lighthouse of Pinellas, and was active in the community with several civic and social organizations and volunteerism. In 2011, Sarah serendipitously met Scott Linde of Chicago and, shortly thereafter, the couple moved together to nearby Gulfport where they discovered a community they loved and that loved them back. Sarah and Scott opened two businesses, bought a home, travelled, and on a very special day, Feb. 21, 2015, were married. Sarah was preceded in death by her loving grandfather, Nelson Poynter; her Aunt Nancy Poynter Cameron; her grandmother, Catherine Poynter Stephenson; grandparents, Jack and Josephine Glass; mother-in-law, Shirley Linde, and beloved dog Shaggy. In addition to her parents, Sarah is survived by her brother, John Glass and her sister-in-law, Patricia Glass and their children, her nieces, Katherine, Holly and Eliza all from Wellesley, MA; her grandmother, Marion Poynter in Virginia; her aunt and uncle Wendy and Scott Severance from Queensbury, NY; and cousins to their children, Jill Sykes and Glenn Severance. She was also sister-like to her cousin, Catherine Dunik in Phoenix. Sarah had a close relationship with her stepmother, Sharon Glass from Boxford, MA and stepsister to her children, Susan Jelly, Amy Jelly, Stephanie Chadwick and Hannah Jelly, and stepsister to Kimberly Howe Lawrence and Jennifer Howe Rosen from a prior marriage. On her husband Scotts' side, Sarah is survived by his brother, Bob Linde from St. Petersburg, as well as their father, Doug Linde and his partner, Carol Prueter of Chicago, where Scott was born. Sarah loved life, loved her family, loved her dogs, Max, Shaggy and Sugar Pie, loved music of all kinds, and she loved to dance. She loved. She was always a joy to be around and she will be missed by all. Sarah had a special gift of making people instantly comfortable and close with her and, as a result, has many dear friends around the world who she loves and who love her back. She would hope that those many amazing wonderful people will let that spirit live within them and spread it to others. The family is in deep gratitude to the doctors and nurses in the trauma unit of ICU at Bayfront Medical Center. Arrangements have been made at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home.
