"South Hadley —Sarah "Sally" Southworth Montgomery, of South Hadley, died Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Loomis House Nursing Center. A graduate of Vassar College, Columbia University, and the University of Wisconsin—Madison, she was a long-time professor of economics at Mount Holyoke College, and the former Dean of the College. At the time of her retirement in 1996, Sally was one of the most esteemed members of the Mount Holyoke faculty. Born in 1930 in Westfield, New Jersey, Sally was the daughter of the late Charlotte Nichols Montgomery and Harry M. Montgomery, Jr. She is survived by her spouse, Priscilla "Chips" Wahlen; her brother Harry Montgomery and his partner Audrey Clarkson of Williamstown, MA; two nieces and two nephews; nine great nieces and nephews; and countless friends and colleagues. A memorial service and full obituary will follow at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Loomis House Nursing Center, Girls Inc. of Holyoke or the Dakin Humane Society. "
