Tribute & Tallent Funeral and Cremations
Sean Donald Sweeney
August 25th, 1968 - March 30th, 2016
Sean Donald Sweeney, born August 25, 1968 at Plattsburgh AFB, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away Wed. March 30, 2016 at age 47. Born to parents Michael C. Sweeney and Katherine M. Antkoviak- Sweeney. Raised in Rochester, NY and graduated Monroe Community College with an AAS in Criminal Justice followed by attendance at SUNY/Brockport NY pursuing a 4 year degree. Sean grew to love the sport of soccer from elementary school to adulthood and goalie was his chosen position. He thoroughly enjoyed coaching the "little ones" whenever called upon; he also could throw a mean pitch in softball and never, ever played any game without earning a "battle scar" injury! He was proud of recently pressing 225 lb. of weight-lifting iron - "pretty good for an old man" he'd say. He was an avid Syracuse Orangemen, Oakland Raiders and Baltimore Orioles fan and had all the team logo caps to prove it. Sean was the Renaissance Man of the working class - he had a plethora of employment opportunities, learned quickly and mastered all but always returned to the remodeling job trade of painting/drywall finisher. In his most recent employ, he was thoroughly enjoying learning newly-found skills for cabinet/wood finishing in which he worked for a great boss, Chris Scully, whom he considered like a brother, as well. Anyone knowing Sean would have some anecdote to tell- usually hilarious as he had a sense of humor second to none. So special to Sean was Father Ed Dillon, Geneseo NY- a true friend, mentor and fellow philosopher and Kimberly Smith who, per Sean, was the "love of his life" who "got away". Rest in eternal peace, Sean - and please know that there is not one person whose path you have crossed in this life who will ever forget you!
