Sharon Beckwith Bailey

Sharon Jane Beckwith Bailey, 63, of Greeley passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at NCMC. She was born January 6, 1954 in Pensacola, FL to Fredrick Downey and Faith M. (Milikowski) Beckwith. Her father served in the U.S. Navy so they moved around from Minnesota before settling in San Diego where she graduated from LaJolla High School in 1972. In the fall of 1972, she moved to Greeley to attend UNC as a double major in Mass Communications and Sociology and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1977. She met Ronald Bailey in Greeley in 1978 and they were married July 20, 1985 in Boulder, CO, making their home in Greeley, celebrating 31 years. Sharon became an educator and taught alternative education at Colorado High School and the Weld Opportunity School, spanning 28 years, retiring in December 2015. She was just beginning the art of dog grooming in her retirement. She was an avid gardener and looked forward to spring and summer each year, planting and tending to the numerous vegetable, flowers and fruits grown on their property. She also loved her animals, taking care of dogs, cats and other animals in their neighborhood as well as collecting dolls and was a phenomenal cook. Survivors include her husband, Ron; nieces, Lani and Tyne and a great nephew and niece, Sonny and Lucy; mother, Faith; sister, Barb (Travis); nephews, Tucker and Dale. She was preceded in death by her father. Friends are invited to participate in her Life Celebration at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Adamson Life Celebration Home with a reception to follow.
