Barnett a long-time resident of Belchertown, MA passed away on March 29, 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona. Born July 11, 1940 in Newark, NJ she was the daughter of Max and Bessie Auerbach. Sharon was raised in Irvington, NJ and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree from Trenton State University and a Masters of Education from Rutgers University before devoting herself to the Springfield School District as a teacher and guidance counselor for over 20 years. She continued to serve the community she had come to call home as an elected member of the Belchertown School Committee for over 15 years. In retirement, Sharon enjoyed spending time with friends, crocheting, playing Mahjong, attending Red Hat Society activities and traveling the world. She is most known for her sharp wit, dry humor and always being ready with a stealthy quip. Sharon, the youngest of three sisters, was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, William, and sisters Shirley Nash and Benita Feldman. She is survived by her daughter Tamara, son-in-law Justin Heath of Phoenix, AZ; son David, daughter-in-law Amber and granddaughter Sterling of Houston, TX; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. It was the time and adventures she shared with these loved ones that she valued the most and truly enriched her life. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Belchertown, MA but may be viewed on Tribucast at https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/880733501.
