All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
Sharon Emas
February 19th, 1944 - September 5th, 2011
Sharon was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 19, 1944 to the parents of John L. Doherty and Marjory M. Doherty. She was raised in St. Louis and graduated from Riverview Gardens High School in 1962. She attended Southeast Mo. State College, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Speech Correction degrees in 1966. She married James Emas on August 20, 1966 in St. Louis, Missouri. She taught speech therapy for ten years at Scott City, East Prairie, and Malden Missouri public schools. She initiated the first speech therapy programs in each of those three public schools. She had three children. A son: Christopher James, born in Cape Girardeau, Mo., in 1971. A daughter: Jennifer, born in Kansas City, Mo., in 1974. And, another daughter: Melanie, born in Poplar Bluff, Mo., in 1975. She has six grandchildren: Lauren and Carolyn Emas; Kalel and Merek Padilla; and Matthew and Joseph Summers. She moved to Colorado in 1979 and has continually lived in Littleton since then, except for two years in Santa Maria, California. She left the teaching profession and worked instead for Lockheed Martin Aerospace as an Editor for 16 years. She retired in 1999 from Lockheed but worked occasionally part time until 2009. She was very active in her church: Columbine United Church for over 30 years. She belonged to several book clubs and care groups at church. She was a loyal and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She and Jim had just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Her family was her life. She was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Thankfully, her children live in the Denver area and were very “close” to her. She will be missed by all who knew her. She fought bravely against her cancer all the way to the end. Her legacy of kindness, love, and forgiveness will remain always with her family and friends. It has been an honor to know her. Good bye Baby, Jim Posted by All-States Cremation
