Sharon Rae Gonzaga
November 22nd, 1942 - October 29th, 2017
Sharon Rae Gonzaga, age 74, of Plymouth, CA, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson. Sharon was born in Oakley, ID on November 22, 1942, a daughter of the late Valera Mae (Tanner) and Frank Hyram Elquist. When Sharon was a young girl, she moved with her parents and siblings to Pittsburg, CA. As a teen, she met Gene Gonzaga, the "paper boy," and on November 14, 1959, they married and then had two children. In 1966 they moved to River Pines, CA. Sharon worked many odd jobs; she bartended at local bars and worked guest services at Lake Camanche for many years, and her last job was at the Plymouth House in Plymouth, CA. Of her numerous hobbies, she found the most joy in a great joke or an amazing prank; no matter if she was on the giving or receiving end. Sharon was loved and will be missed by many family and friends. She is survived by her children, Lorraine (Jeff) Smith, of River Pines, CA; son, August Gonzaga (companion Dina D'Agostini) of River Pines, CA; sisters, Elva Loyd, Patricia Dunaway, Merna Daily, and Phyllis Magana; brother, Raymond Elquist; grandchildren, Trisha Leach (Andrew), Travis (Angela) Gonzaga, Lance Corporal Jonathan Smith; great grandchildren, Piper, Willow, Rook; numerous nieces and nephews; and her fur baby, "Stinkie." Sharon was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at 1:30 P.M., at Lodge Hall, 18565 Empire Street, Plymouth, CA.
