Sharon "Lonnie" A. Lyons
February 10th, 1955 - February 20th, 2020
Sharon A. "Lonnie" Lyons, 65, of East Syracuse passed away. Sharon was an extraordinary athlete will an unrelenting will. She was an “A” division fast pitch catcher, and a home run slugger! Setting scoring records for women’s lacrosse Her freshmen year at Cortland State. A serious sports women in every sense of the word. Respected by her peers and feared by the competition. Her tenacity and give all, each and every time she took the field, was legendary! There was also a soft side to her, of sensitivity and unconditional love. She absolutely adored her two grand niece’s and her beloved Widgie! Spoiling them rotten with the same intensity she had as an athlete. Sharon peacefully slipped away to the eternal game day, 4:50am February 20th at Crouse Irving Memorial. In the company of her loving family and friends... She will forever be missed, but never forgotten. Peace, Love, and Oneness... Lonnie is survived by her mother, Bev Lyons; father, Oren Lyons; brother Rex Lyons; nephews, Monte and Brook Lyons; niece in law, Wayva Lyons; grand nieces, Ejisdahawis and Gonyense; and her life partner Mary Woodhouse. Calling hours will be held on Friday the 21st from 4 PM to 7 PM at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette. A funeral Service will be at 10 AM Saturday the 22nd at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Onondaga Nation Cemetery.
