Sharon Kay O’Brien, 69, passed away due to lung cancer on February 9, 2018 in Lacey, Washington. She was born June 27, 1948, to Junior and Burneline “Peggy” Johnston in Hamlin, West Virginia. Sharon graduated from Buffalo High School in Buffalo, West Virginia, and married Marvin “Tom” O’Brien on September 6, 1966, in Olympia, Washington. Sharon retired from the Washington State Patrol where she worked in the accounting department. She also worked in banking for 20+ years at various banks in Texas, California and Washington, including Puget Sound Bank. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church, and loved crocheting, motorcycle riding, and canning. She also enjoyed cooking – so much so the week prior to her death she wanted to be in the kitchen where her children were preparing the evening meal for two reasons (1) to join in on the fun and laughter taking place and (2) to make sure they were doing it correctly. Sharon will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Tom; son, Sean K. O’Brien; daughters, Shannon Jackson and Kimberly Bauer of Tumwater, Washington; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and sisters, Sue Gutierrez of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, Margaret Ball of Huntington, West Virginia, and Patty Randolph. Please leave memories of Sharon or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
