Obituary SHARON LEE PANNING January 1959 December 2020 Sharon Panning was born and raised in Florida as the second daughter of a former military pilot and a model. Always active and precocious, she was a competitive swimmer in her teens but then as a young adult pursued a career in law enforcement as a private investigator. After spending a few years in Jackson, MS, Sharon finally achieved her childhood dream of moving to Colorado and living in the shadow of Pikes Peak, calling Colorado Springs home for nearly 20 years. During her early years here, she worked for the White Bison Wellbriety Movement. The dream of living in Colorado was further enhanced when she purchased her home and some land southeast of the airport where she lived with her two horses, Smooth and Shonie, as well as two donkeys, Buddy and Scout, LeStat the Cat, dogs Rhody, River and Riley, assorted barn cats and various other critters including gold fish in her water trough. An active member of AA for over 25 years, it was Sharons great joy to host a huge annual barbecue complete with donkey rides for the kids every summer with any and all invited to join in. In April of 2019, declining health necessitated Sharon moving into the Springs residing on the westside until her death. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents and survived by her sister, Shaleen Souleyret of Port Orange, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sharons name to the Ruby Ranch Horse Rescue, Longhopes Donkey Shelter or the Colorado Horse Rescue Network. Services You can still show your support by sending flowers directly to the family, or by planting a memorial tree in the memory of Sharon Lee Panning
