Sharon Arlene Reilly

A very special person. Raised in Hamilton Township, New Jersey by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth, with her twin brother Michael, older brother Robert (Bob) and younger brother Peter. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Glassboro State College and her Masters from Trenton State College. For the past three years, Sharon lived in San Diego with her husband, close to her daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren. Sharon first taught at the elementary level at Klockner School in Hamilton, and then went on to be a K 4-5 and Transitional 1st teacher in the North Hanover School system. She spent 30 years at Discovery School on Maguire Air Force Base. Sharon was active in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Washington Crossing filling many roles, frequently in the Religious Education Program, and as an active fund raiser. Later, she and her husband joined with a small group of 10 people to form a new congregation in Hamilton, NJ, The Dorothea Dix Unitarian Universalist Community. Sharon truly set the bar when it came to being a loving wife, Mom and Nana; and she was the ultimate loyal friend and joyous, giving soul. Sharon was a die-hard Denver Broncos fan and avid baker, Scrabble and bridge player. Leaving behind her loving husband Tom; son Donald Giersch, Jr. of Allentown, NJ; daughter Rebecca (Bek) and son-in-law Matt Sanicki of San Diego, CA; step-daughter Mary Cathleen Reilly of Swedesboro, NJ; and 3 grandchildren Peter 21, Grayson 8 and Sienna 5. Sharon was predeceased by her loving son Dru Robert. As per her wishes, her ashes will be spread at sea. She will be missed, so missed. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 20th at 4pm – Dorthea Dix Unitarian Universalist Community, 39 Park Street, Bordentown NJ 08505. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Sharon’s name to the Parkinson’s Association, 2095 W Vista Way, Suite 217, Vista, CA 92083.
