Shawn James Dugan Mr. Dugan, 38, of Charlotte was born into eternal life on Good Friday, April 2 at Carolinas Medical Center. Born in Staten Island, New York, and raised in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, Shawn moved to North Carolina to attend UNC Charlotte. Upon graduation, and early in Sean?s professional career, he began working as a bartender at The Rhinoceros Club to earn extra money. It was there that he poured a drink for a lovely redhead who caught his eye. Shawn and Cathy were proof that you can find true love in a bar! Married on April 23, 2005 at St. Patrick Cathedral, Shawn was a loving husband. And, two years later, on Good Friday, he became a devoted father when he and Cathy were blessed with their sweet boy, Patrick. As a financial planner with Ameriprise, Shawn took pride in helping his clients prepare for their futures and provide for their families. In 2008, he was recognized in Charlotte Magazine as a Five Star, Best-In-Client-Satisfaction Wealth Manager. Shawn put the ?sweet? in sweet tooth. Cookies, candy, milkshakes, you name it ? he was an equal-opportunity sugar lover! Despite his love of all things sweet, Shawn didn?t let the calories stick around. He ran two marathons, several 5 and 10Ks and planned to run more. Full of life, often irreverent, gregarious, always ready for a laugh, Shawn will forever be remembered by his loving wife, Cathy, his son, Patrick, his parents Jerry & Cathy of Charlotte, and his three brothers Keith and wife, Dawn of Rock Hill, SC, Jerry and wife, Jill of Manhattan, NY and James and wife, Carolyn also of Charlotte, NC. His nieces and nephews Elliott, Kate, Carly, Ryan, and twins, due in August, will miss their uncle tremendously. He is also loved and will be missed by his mother-in-law, Janie Sue Graham, father-in-law Randle Hill, and Cathy?s siblings. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m., with the a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Cathedral 1621 Dilworth Road East, Charlotte, NC 28203.
