Shawn Patrick Myers

July 2nd, 1963 - August 2nd, 2024

Shawn Patrick Myers, 61, passed away on August 2, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.

Shawn was born July 2, 1963, to Opal Myers and Daniel Lyons Myers Sr. in Spokane, Washington. Shawn was one of six children and was the middle child and was often described as the “nicest” one. He was very close to his siblings, especially his brother Mike. Although they weren’t twins at birth, they were inseparable. They enjoyed many of the same hobbies (fishing/cars) and friends. It’s rare to hear a story about Shawn’s childhood that didn’t involve Mike.

Shawn graduated from Olympia High School in 1982. He began a career at Emperor’s Palace restaurant where he eventually became a manager and worked for more than 20 years. After leaving the “Palace,” he joined his father-in-law in the construction world, where he obtained his commercial driver’s license (CDL). In 2011, he began his career at Intercity Transit as a DialA-Lift driver and in 2017 he joined their Customer Service Team, where he truly found his calling. Shawn made such a positive impact on those he worked with, as well as those he served.

Shawn made an impression on all those who knew him. He was a caring, loving and patient man. Anyone who knew Shawn was touched by his kindness, humor and mild temperament. He was always the first to greet others with a warm smile and a kind “hello!” Anytime he saw someone who was in uniform, he was quick to thank them for their service. He will be remembered for his kindness.

Some of Shawn’s favorite hobbies included cooking, fishing, working on cars and watching the Seahawks. He loved fishing at Sekui and barbecuing for family and friends.

Shawn was a fighter, but after several years, he finally lost his battle to cancer and is now at peace in heaven. His family rallied around him in his final months of life and we will miss him more than words can say.

Shawn is survived by his wife, Michelle, and their children Dylan and Isabelle. In addition, he is survived by siblings Dan (and Shawnee) Myers, Rose (and Brian) Bossio, Mike (and Lesley) Myers, Megan (and Lee) Pilon, and Kevin (and Shawna) Myers.

There will be a celebration of life held in his honor on Sunday, August 25th, 1:00 pm at Indian Summer Golf and Country Club, Olympia, WA.

In lieu of flowers, if you want to donate in Shawn’s memory, please donate to Providence Hospice (https://give.providence.org/WA/pswf/) or to an organization that supports cancer research.

Shawn you were the gem of this family. You were an amazing person, full of life and vitality. The memory of you can never fade. A brother is a special kind of friend. One that shares the same bloodline as you. You did not die alone brother, a part of me died with you. The difference is, I am only a shell of myself. I know we will meet again. I will keep your memories closer to my heart so I can move on. Love you more Michael Myers
