Shawn Marie Wellman

Fultonville- Shawn Marie Wellman, 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Massachusetts General Hospital, in Boston MA.     Born on May 27, 1951, in Utica NY, to the late Thressa Loccia and Kenneth Fleck, Shawn made the Fonda-Fultonville community her home for over 60 years, and is a graduate of Fonda-Fultonville High School. Prior to her retirement, Shawn worked as a home health aide for Community Health Care, and was an Avon Representative for over 30 years and loved being the site Director for the Meals for the Elderly, serving the Fonda and Fultonville elderly communities for close to 15 years. Most of all, Shawn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend to many; she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Shawn is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, LeRoy Wellman; sons, Rob Hutchins (Barbara), Chad Hutchins (Sherry) and Brett Wellman (Jason); grandchildren, Chelsa, Jenna, Andy and Cody; and brother, Ken Fleck (Nancy). Her family also includes many cousins, step-siblings, and brothers and sisters-in law. She was predeceased by her brother, Terry Fleck; best friend, Penny Ladra; in-laws, Alton and Nellie Wellman, Andy and Lita Hutchins; and her stepmother, Esther Fleck. Funeral services for Shawn will be on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11am with Fr. Juanito Asprec officiating. A calling hour will be held prior, beginning at 10am at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider registering as an organ donor, as Shawn was a proud recipient of a life-saving organ transplant nearly 20 years ago.
