July 20th, 1945 - June 29th, 2015
Kingsport- Sheila G. Stafford, 69, of Kingsport left this walk of life on Monday morning (June 29, 2015). She was born in Clintwood, Virginia and resided in Kingsport the majority of her life. Sheila graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lincoln Memorial University with a degree in accounting/economics and completed additional studies at Emory University, Vanderbilt University, and University of Tennessee. She retired from Tennessee Eastman Company with over 35 years of service. While at Eastman, Mrs. Stafford served as Supervisor of Accounting, Accounting Manager, Corporate Investment Analysis, along with Merger and Acquisitions. She also held the title of President with National Association of Accountants (NAA). During her working career she volunteered with several civic groups throughout the community. Sheila loved to work with her flowers and especially enjoyed spending time on the beach. She was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her son, Darren Stafford; her parents, Ross and Pearl Greear. Sheila G. Stafford is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Don Stafford; a son, Derek and wife, Robin; a granddaughter, Olivia Stafford; her brothers, Howard Greear and wife, Wanda, Larry Greear and wife, Genell; mother-in-law, Billie Jo Stafford; sister-in-law, Joann Checkovich and husband, John along with several nieces and nephews. A heartfelt thanks goes out to Elmcroft, Steadman Hills, her special sitters, Becky, Cortney, Lee Anna, and Michelle for the special care given to Sheila. A visitation will be held on Wednesday (July 1, 2015) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Kingsley United Methodist Church. A celebration of Life Service will be held at 7 p.m. at Kingsley United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Amos, Sr. officiating. Music will be provided by Tim Stafford of Blue Highway. A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday (July 2, 2015) at 1 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Adam Love, officiating. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kingsley United Methodist Church, 2828 Bloomingdale Road, Kingsport, TN 37660. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Stafford family.
