Sheilia Watkins

Sheilia Watkins, 100 years, was born August 10, 1923 to Harry and Eva Gant in Peace River, Alberta, Canada. When Sheilia was about two years old the family moved to Kamloops, British Columbia for a period of time and then moved to Seattle, WA. They moved again to Olympia, Washington where Sheilia started the third grade. She graduated from Olympia High School. Shelia met her future husband George Watkins when they were both charter members of a new Grange. They married August 3, 1942 in Springdale, Washington. They were married for 42 years when George passed away in 1984. Sheilia is survived by a sister, Shirley (Gant) Grubb and two brothers, John and Al Gant, three children, Fern Olsen (Dick Olsen), Dick Watkins (Mary Watkins), and Susan Watkins. She had two grandsons, John and Joe Olsen and three great grandchildren, Andrew, Oscar and Laura. The family moved to Roseburg, OR in 1955 and then to Eugene in 1957. Sheilia worked for 25 years in the county clerk's office and then in probate and retired as a probate commissioner. She enjoyed travelling and went on trips with her sister Shirley. Sheilia was very active at Wesley United Methodist Church where she and George became members in 1960. Since 1985 she had served in many capacities. Sheilia's memorial service will be at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1385 Oakway Rd. at 2:00 PM on February 3. 2024.
