Sherril Lee Cook
July 1st, 1944 - November 9th, 2022
Sherril “ Sherry” Lee Cook was born on July 1, 1944, in Denver, Colorado, to Henry and Elvera David. She was the first of 5 children, and both sets of her grandparents German immigrants , born in Russia, who later emigrated to the USA. Sherry was a happy child and a great big sister. She was musically talented and played the flute in high school, and loved to play the organ. She learned to play by ear. Sherry graduated from Merritt Hutton High School in Thornton, Colorado, in 1962. She then attended Hollywood Beautician School in Denver and worked for the Denver Hilton Hotel as a hair stylist, where she met several celebrities providing hair styling. In 1964, she met her future husband, Robert “Bob” Cook; they were married after a short engagement in 1965. Sherry and Bob had 4 children-Robert Lee Cook, David Henry Cook, Terry Alan Cook, and Rhonda Lynn Cook. They lived in Denver, Colorado, Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, and Loveland, Colorado. Sherry worked several different jobs and continued to do haircuts for family and friends. One of her favorite jobs was working at Northshore Manor Retirement Center in Loveland, where she was a housekeeper. She worked very hard but loved the people she met and became friends with who both worked there and resided there. She retired from Northshore after 23 years of service. Sherry loved her family and spending time with her siblings and in-laws, and her children and their families at family get-togethers, and holidays. She also loved crafting, and learned everything from crocheting, sewing, making stylish clothes for her kids, cooking, and baking, and her love language was gift giving. She made amazing home-made pies, kraut bieroks, German Kuchen, and Sunday Beef Roast Dinners. Sherry loved her pets and her beloved dog Mr. Pipper, as well as her grand-dog Mya and her cat Milo. She also loved all her grand-dogs who loved her too because she always shared her food with them. Sherry greatly loved her children and sacrificed immensely for them throughout her life, always putting them and their needs before her own. She was incredibly optimistic and had a positive outlook, never complaining and always wearing a beautiful smile in spite of her own sometimes difficult circumstances. Sherry loved Christmas and usually saved her money all year just so she could either make or purchase presents for everyone. She loved her grandchildren Raelene Lundin, TJ Cook, Travis Cook, Kate Cook, Shelby Robinson, and Caleb County, and they loved her for her kindness and silliness, as she always had a good laugh or giggle, even making fun of herself whenever there was a family get-together. Sherry lost her husband Bob in 2009. Sherry is survived by her son, Robert L. Cook and daughter-in-law Lori Whitson Cook, grandchildren Travis Cook, Kate Cook, and Shelby Robinson, her son, David Cook, her son Terry Cook and daughter-in-law Amy Cook, grandchildren TJ Cook and Caleb County, Her daughter-in-law Grace Wright and granddaughter Raelene Lundin, her daughter Rhonda Cook and her boyfriend Tyler Zinn. She is also survived by her brother Terry David and sister-in-law Charolette, her sister Karen Morehart and her brother-in-law Butch, Her Brother Dennis David and her sister-in-law Debbie, sister-in-law Gayla David , and her sister Linda Dewey and her brother-in-law Kurt, her brothers and sisters in law Jim and Barb Cook, Steve and Robin Cook, as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. All who knew her also loved her: the world was truly a better place because of her presence and we are all blessed to have had her in our lives. We will always lover her, greatly miss her and never forget her!
