Nutt, Sherry Marie (nee Polenska) passed away Monday morning, April 20, 2015 after battling, and living well with ovarian cancer. Beautiful and loving wife of Joseph, Mother of Brian (Diana) and David, and dear Grandmother of Brandon, Andrea, Brianna and Hailey Nutt. Also survived by brothers Richard (Uhliana) Polenska, Robert (Debra) Polenska, sister Mary (Donald) Miller and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Lorraine Polenska, and her brother James. Sherry graduated from Horicon High School (class of 67) and then The University of Wisconsin La Crosse where she met Joseph. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and remained in contact with her DZ friends through the years. With a degree in Physical Education, a love of sports and health, she taught, and coached for 35 years at Pulaski High School in Milwaukee. She then continued to teach/coach tennis at Arrowhead High School in Waukesha County and at summer tennis camps at UW Whitewater Wisconsin up to 2014. When not coaching sports, she was involved in the state tennis coaches association (Hall of Fame) and was often found playing competitive tennis year round for the exercise and all the friends she found through the sport. She loved to travel and often said she had gotten the 'itchy foot' from her mother. She liked being outside, planting flowers and her vegetable garden every year and taking long walks. She enjoyed the theatre, (Joe and Sherry met on a theatre trip in college) music, and spent many lovely evenings ushering with Joe at area venues including The Milwaukee Repertory Company, The Skylight Theatre, The Marcus Center and the Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield. Most of all, family was important. Large gatherings at home were a family tradition; Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and 4th of July, or any other good reason to get together, to cook, and share cheer and friendship. The visitation for Sherry will be held on Monday, April 27, 2015, from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the eulogy at 5:20 p.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 5:30 p.m. at St. Anthony on the Lake Catholic Church, W280 N2101 Prospect Ave. (Hwy SS) Pewaukee, WI. 53072. The Rev. Anthony Zimmer will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sherry's name are appreciated to Arrowhead H.S. "Coach Nutt" Memorial Fund through U.S. Bank.
