Shirlee Scercy Dunlap
June 23rd, 1936 - October 11th, 2017
Mrs. Shirlee Scercy Dunlap, 81, of Charlotte, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Carolinas Medical Center-Main. A native of Cabarrus County, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Edward and Mary Willard Long Scercy. She retired from the United States Postal Service after many years of service. She attended the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina, or "the WC" as it is affectionately remembered (now UNC-Greensboro). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hugh Dunlap; by her son, Eric Randall Dunlap; and by her brother, Max Wayne Scercy. Mrs. Dunlap is survived by her daughter, Myra Dunlap (David Joe Duncan) of Charlotte; by her son Christopher Vaughan Dunlap of Indian Trail; by three grandchildren, Erin Dunlap, Melissa Paige Dunlap (Caleb Walker) and Sara Alice Dunlap; and by three great-grandchildren, Randy Ross Walker, Emma Grace Walker and Braydon Dunlap. A graveside service for Mrs. Dunlap will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Earl Bradshaw officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or to the Charlotte Humane Society. Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Dunlap and her family.
