Obituary Mrs. Shirley Ann Alford departed this life o November 25, 2022 at the age of 63. Born on June 27, 1959 to the union of Abricella Singleton and Zack Amos Rutland in Macon Georgia, Shirley graduated from Mary Persons High School then went on to the Macon College where she earned a degree in Business. She then entered into the US Army, serving her country from 1981 to 1991. Shirley had many different jobs while in the military, including Administrative Specialist and Personnel Records Specialist. Shirley did tours in Germany, and support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Shirley received different awards during her time in the military including the Army Service Ribbon, Army Lapel Button, National Defense Service, Medical Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal and Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal. She went to active duty recall and annual screening in which Shirley completed for the purpose of post-service benefits and entitlements. Shirley married Ronald Gregory Alford while in Germany. She worked various while living in Colorado Springs, La Jazz Affair Night Club for 13 years as a cook. Cracker Barrell restaurant for nine years, Alterra Sterling House Nursing Home for almost 16 years. IHS Nursing Home for a number of years. She also worked at Sunrise Nursing Home for 15 years. All of this after the completion of her service in the US Army. Shirley enjoyed cooking, taking care of everyone in need of her help. She loved being a member of Fresh Start Baptist Church. She loved Betty Boop, shopping, going to church and every job that she ever had. Shirley adored her grandsons, Trevor and Tyshawn. She loved to have BBQs and feed all her friends, and there were so many, she was a friend to all she met. Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Abricella Rutland, her father, Zack Amos Rutland; her brother Zack Amos Rutland, Jr., all from Macon, GA, and her grandson, Trevor; her brother, Terry Singleton; her sisters, Amy Rutland and Trudy Rutland of Macon, GA Joseph Edward Branson of Colorado Springs. She is survived by her loving daughter, Tamika Sherrie Alford, grandson Tyshawn King Branson, both of Colorado Springs; she is also survived by Klarissa Stubbs and Jessica Singleton of Macon, GA, a Terrell Singleton of FL. Shirley also leaves behind a very special aunt, her Aunt Louise Barrett and a special friend, Eddy Thomas and a host of devoted extended family and friends. The Alford, Rutland and Singleton families would like to thank everyone for their phone calls, prayers, gifts, etc. May God Bless you and may Heaven smile upon you all.
