Greensboro, NC Mrs. Shirley Pittman Beaver Phillips, 79 of Greensboro passed away Monday at Brighton Gardens. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rodney Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park. Shirley was a native of Edgecombe Co., NC and was born on January 27, 1932 to the Charles B. Pittman and Ruth Batts Pittman. She was married to Thomas Beaver and William Phillips who preceded her in death. She graduated from Bessemer High School where she was a member of the basketball team. She was a former employee of Montaldo's and retired from Hecht's and a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. Surviving are daughters: Debbie and (Joe) Godwin of Oak Ridge, Teresa and (Ben) Dawkins of Summerfield. Son: Gary and (Beth) Beaver of Brown Summit. Her brother: Cecil Pittman of Greensboro. Brother and sister-in-law Gene and Faye Beaver of Greensboro. Grandchildren: Melissa and (Kelly) O'Donnell, David and (Lynn) Godwin, Stacey and (Chris) Penn, Hillary and (Isaak) Whitt, Christina and (Kevin) Dodson, Benjamin Dawkins, Jake Beaver and Megan Beaver, 4 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Other times at 8001 Eastridge Rd.
