Shirley Ann Spivey

Shirley Ann Spivey, age 79, of the Jasper community went to be with the Lord early Friday, April 22, 2016 at her home. She was born in Scott County, VA, and was the daughter of late Homer and Molly Dockery. She was a homemaker, volunteer worker and loved to quilt. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Ray Spivey; son, Jason S. (Bubba) Spivey; 3 brothers, Edward, C.H. and Mack Dockery; and sister, Sue Stacy. She is survived by her children, Cathy Spivey of Gate City, Phyllis Bledsoe (George) and Benny Spivey of Duffield; grandchildren, Melanie Fields (Scott), Misty Burke (Walter), Michelle Vermillion (Larry), Miranda Hamilton (C.J.), Megan Ball (Josh), Devin Dishner, Shane Dishner (Phyllis) and Jonathan Dishner (Hope); great-grandchildren, MaKayla Fields, Madeline Talley, Matthew Baker, McKenzie Vermillion, Madison Cole, Benjamin Cole, Dakota Hamilton, Abella Hamilton, Kylee Ball, Dani, Blake, Logan, Bronson, Brock, Coltyn and Rhealyn Dishner; brothers, Ray Dockery (Linda) and Doug Dockery (Beverly); sisters, Nina Spencer (Bill), Betty Dingus (Willard) and June Rollins (Clarence) . The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 pm with Evangelist Garry Hood and Brother Ray Dockery. Music will be provided by the Dockery Singers. The committal service will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the Spivey Family Cemetery in Duffield, VA with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Pallbearers will be family.
