Shirley Topping

Shirley Topping, 87, of Amsterdam, NY, has gone to her eternal rest on Sunday, September 24th, 2017. Born on August 8th, 1930, in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Helen Lamont and Paul Genatiempo. Shirley graduated from Little Falls City School District. She married the love of her life James Topping on June 1st, 1957. It was a strong union that lasted until his passing on May 30th, 1992. Shirley loved going for long walks by a lake she had on her property. She was an avid reader who loved her cats and enjoyed going horseback riding. She was very giving and had a soft spot for making frequent donations to various charity organizations. She was a very strong willed and intelligent woman who will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and close friends. Shirley is survived by her daughter Jean Hallenbeck; her grandchildren, Amber Chambers, Andy (Lea) Hallenbeck III, Quentin (Megan) Hallenbeck, and Nicole (Andy) Kline, and her six great grandchildren. Many nieces' nephews and cousins also survive. Shirley is predeceased by her Beloved husband James, her parents Paul and Helen Genatiempo, her sister Virginia Krajewski, and her brother in-law Karl Krajewski. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 29th, 2017 at 11am at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Interment will immediately follow at Hagaman Mills Cemetery, Hagaman, NY. In lieu of flowers a Memorial Contribution may be made to: Easy Street Horse Rescue, 109 Langley Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
