In Loving Memory of Shirley Ann Vigil
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Shirley was born October 21th 1939 in Starkville Colorado. She peacefully passed away on February 28th 2024 at Garden Terrace nursing home in Aurora, Colorado.
Shirley was a homemaker and dedicated her time to creating a warm and inviting environment for not just her family, but also guests and visitors. Her kitchen was always a place of welcome and joy and she enjoyed cooking and could always be found there singing and preparing delicious meals. She passed values and traditions that still hold a special memory for all of us.
Beyond her love of cooking, she was also very devoted to her faith and found solace and strength in her religious beliefs which she held onto until the end.
Warm summers brought family trips, where she would enjoy spending time with her loved ones as they traveled to different places. She enjoyed fishing and camping on many of these adventures and created lasting memories with all of us.
Shirley is proceeded in death by her husband Jose E. Vigil, her parents Joe Sisto Tapia and Aurora Laura Tapia, her brothers Gilbert and Eddie and sisters Matilda and Elaine.
She is survived by her children Michaelene (Matt) Chase, Ankeny, Iowa; Patrick Vigil, Murray, Kentucky; Kelly Ann (John) Novosel, Aurora, Colorado; and Jody Vigil, Denver, Colorado; Six grandchildren, Kimberly (Garrett) Walther, Cheyenne Nord (Kyle Petty), AJ Vigil, and Jeremy Vigil. And two great-grandchildren, Jack and Drake Walther. She is also survived by numerous other relatives.
A rosary and memorial of her life will be held at 9:00 a.m. on March 15th at Romero Funeral Home in Aurora, Colorado. A reception to be held after in the basement.
A private memorial will be held by the family later on this year.
