Shreekrishna Ganesh Joshi

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Shreekrishna Ganesh Joshi; Husband, Father, Religious Leader, Friend to many and a pillar of the Hindu Community. After an ongoing battle with cancer, he passed peacefully surrounded by Family on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at his home in Charlotte, NC. Born on December 26, 1937 in the town of Thane, India, Shree, known to many as Appa, was one of four children. Appa moved to the USA with the help of his older Brother, P.G. Joshi in 1967. In July 1970, he married Geeta S. Joshi and they made Charlotte, NC their home. In September of 1971 their daughter Keerti was born. Appa always placed Family and Community in very high regard. He was one of the founders of the Hindu Community in Charlotte and had a passion for sharing, performing and officiating poojas for everyone who needed his services and guidance. He was honored to serve in this capacity for well over 40 years. Appa truly enjoyed his involvement with many groups and organizations including The Hindu Center, Shakha and Sai Baba groups. Appa is survived by his wife, Geeta, of 50 years; his daughter, Keerti and her Husband, James; his brother, Prabakar G. Joshi; Nieces, Nephews and Lifelong Friends. He was preceded in death by his Sisters, Sushila V. Ghaisas and Swati (Meena) Joshi; and, his parents, Saraswati and Ganesh Laxman Joshi. Appa will be remembered for his big heart, opening his home to those he did not yet know, willingness to help those in need and whole heartedly contributing to deserving organizations.
