Sidonia Curran
February 19th, 1932 - May 27th, 2014
Beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, friend, companion Sidonia Curran. She was born on February 20, 1932 in Leek Staffordshire, England. Sidonia died in her home in Mountlake Terrace, Washington, USA in her sleep on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 11:45pm. She had a peaceful look and a gentle smile; she went back home in peace. Sidonia came from a small village from up north in England, Stoke-on-Trent, Ipstones, England. Sidonia was a strong Methodist woman. She started as a Primitive Methodist member, to her final days as a United Methodist woman. She went to the village school, and she sang in the Old Church of England Choir. She had many great and grand adventures at home during the WWII war years. They supported, as many families did back then, the Polish escapees from the hands of the Germans. She moved out from home, never to look back. Sidonia then had a change in life and soon departed for Scotland where she worked in fine upper-class hotels, running the floor as the head waitress; Lords, Sirs, Ladies, and the likes she served. Many famous people personally knew my mom. She soon went to London when she was 16 years old. She worked at the Grandchester and other big hotels. Sidonia ran and operated a few bars there; one bar was owned by Haley Mills dad. She also worked for Sir. Laurence Olivia and other famous people. Sidonia entertained many people from all over the world, and then she and my dad, Richard Patrick Curran, fell in love and got married by the Justice of the Peace in London. Dad was Catholic, Mom was Protestant; so they decided on neutral and sacred. Dad had to borrow the money from his boss for the cab to get to his wedding, his C.O. Commander JT. who became my godfather nine months later when they had me. Her water broke in the streets of downtown busy London. Dad got mom by London cabbie, to Ruislip to have me. I am a Caesarian delivery. I was born dead and was brought back to life, and Mom almost lost all her blood and had to have a complete blood transfusion and I was in baby ICU for 14 days. We are now US Navy dependents. Dad was working for NATO, and other agencies, since he was in the Intel community. After 11 months, we came to America in a military four-engine prop-jop, trans Atlantic flight. We were stationed in Long Beach. In 1962, we got stationed in Frankfurt Germany; there she became the head den mother of Boy Scouts of America NATO forces, Frankfurt Germany. We then got stationed in Mountlake Terrace, Washington. Dad worked at Sand Point Naval Base reading film from Navy Orion Airplanes missions and Mom became the President of the PTA. Dad went to Vietnam for his second tour. We left for Naples Italy after his return from Vietnam and TET offensive in 1968. While in Naples Italy we resided in Parco San Palo for 3 1/2 years. Mom did Boy Scouts of America for about 1 1/2 years and then started to run the Vatican tours for US Forces Naples Italy. Sidonia had a private audience with Pope John Paul in the Vatican, and other blessings. Following our time in Naples we returned to Mountlake Terrace, while dad returned for his third and last tour in Vietnam. Mom bought her current house in 1974 and dad retired from the US Navy. She became a Shoreline United Methodist member soon after moving in. Sidonia began her English Secret Garden, and it was enjoyed by many people, common and holy. Mom had teas she did, always a pot of tea when you came in; a cookie, or a snack; maybe a teddy bear, or really scrumptious treats. Just a little bit of Sidonia and love she gave to all living creatures. She was a loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friends, acquaintances, neighbors, all the animals she cared for, dogs, squirrels, birds, all animals great and small, and spiritual advisors across the globe. Many great people have consulted with my mom. Her house, and garden; teas and grace have all now gone to a peaceful sleep forever; never to hear the melody lines that her English voice, her gentle voice that made you smile, even when she got angry. Mom always sounded beautiful to me. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her sole surviving daughter, Ms. MiaTanya Bininfia Curran; her loving daughter-in-law, Mrs. Connie Joann Curran; granddaughter Mrs. Jessie Campanella Sills and her husband Mr. Steven Sills; great granddaughter Miss Annberly Antoinette Sills; her sister in England, Mrs. Ruth Polskia; niece Mrs. Jessie Wilson; and all of their children and grandchildren and great grand children; as well as all of moms cousins and friends still in England and abroad. She is also survived by her step grandchildren, Mr. Jimmy Andre Taylor, Mr. Adam Houghton, Mrs. Kimberly, Miss Kalista Shult, Miss Katrina, Mr. Michael William Shult; and all of their children and great grandchildren. Hope and Love. Rest and Peace. With love Forever Earning feathers for angel wings Shalom Ms. MiaTanya Bininfia Curran
