Sigifredo Franco Landa, cherished husband and adored father, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020 at the age of 81. He was born on March 16, 1939 in Agualeguas, Nuevo León, Mexico to parents, Severiano Franco and Mercedes Landa de Franco. Sigifredo grew up with ten siblings on their family farm, and by the age of seven was helping his parents take care of the sheep. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 19 and gained employment as a cement finisher with Gilvin-Terrill LTD in Amarillo, Texas, eventually gaining his U.S. citizenship. Early in 1969, he met the woman who was to become his wife and in 1970 married Yolanda Reyna. They made their home in Amarillo and were happily married for just over 50 years. He liked working with his hands, and on weekends he enjoyed barbequing and swimming in the backyard oasis that he created for his family. He was a good provider, grew a big garden every year, and nurtured a variety of fruit trees for his family to enjoy. He also liked old-fashioned Mexican movies and music. For years, he associated with Jehovah’s Witnesses at weekly meetings, conventions, and the yearly commemoration of the death of Jesus Christ called the Memorial. He often reflected on the Bible’s message of Jehovah God’s promise for a better future for mankind and taught his children by example to be respectful, forgiving, loyal, kind, generous, and loving. Sigifredo was preceded in death by his father Severiano and his mother Mercedes; his brothers, Ricardo and Leonel; and his grandson Virgil Hillock III. Sigifredo is survived by his wife, Yolanda; his children, Sally (husband Aaron); Michael (wife Vickie); Sigifredo II (wife Flor); Angela (husband Jeremy); Adelina (husband Douglas); Anita (husband Jensen); his brothers, Ernesto and Miguel; his sisters, Orfelinda, Ulda, Gloria, Blanca, Mercedes, and Sonia; ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren. Memorial services are pending via Zoom.
