Silvia ""DJ La Consentida"" Rueda
Silvia "DJ La Consentida" Rueda, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024 at her home in Los Lunas, NM. Born on October 20, 1956, Silvia lived a life full of color, laughter, and music, leaving behind a legacy of joy, creativity, and resilience.
As an avid lover of all music, particularly New Mexico Music, Silvia became well-known as DJ La Consentida. Her passion for the arts and community led her to co-found the Chicano Music Festival in Silver City, NM, and to organize and host numerous music and community events across the Southwest. She also left her mark as the owner of Footprints Bridal & Floral in Bayard, NM where she was known for her beautiful arrangements and corsages worn by many during the prom and homecoming seasons.
Silvia's resolute spirit was evident in her expansive list of hobbies. She found pleasure in fishing, painting, gardening, traveling and baking. She was enthusiastic fan of Hallmark Christmas Movies (yes, even in July), she also enjoyed playing Scrabble and solving puzzles. Her love for the Green Bay Packers was well known in her family. Her favorite color, yellow, truly reflected her radiant personality.
She was a devoted member of The Cornerstone Apostolic Church in Albuquerque, NM where she served as a Sunday School teacher even in the last months of her life. She gave back to her community by volunteering at American Legion Auxiliary Unit 95 in Solomon, AZ. In her final days, she found joy by humorously quacking like a duck and ordering DoorDash whenever she got the chance.
Silvia is survived by her daughter Sofia Ponce and husband Gerardo, her son Juan De La O and wife Laline, and son Robert De La O and partner Jiro. Her beautiful grandchildren, Hannah, Bethany, Tabitha, Audreanna, Ange, Analía, and Alejandro, will miss their loving grandmother immensely.
She is also survived by her brother Ralph A Rueda and wife Drucilla, sister Elizabeth A Morales and husband Sam, brother Tomas A Rueda and wife Geraldine, and sister Mercy A Leyba and husband David. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
She was predeceased by her father Rafael C Rueda and mother Maria A Rueda.
Her loving, funny, creative, independent, and resilient personality will live on in the hearts of those she left behind, and her impact on her community will forever be a testament to Silvia's vibrant life. Rest in peace, Silvia, your melody plays on.
