Skender Malko

November 2nd, 1947 - August 17th, 2024

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal!

In Loving Memory of Skender Malko

Skender Malko was born on 2 November 1947 in Albania and passed away on 17 August 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity. Skender was the heart of his family, a devoted husband to his wife, and a loving father to three daughters. Together, they migrated to the United States, where they courageously began their life anew, embracing the challenges and opportunities that came with starting over.

Skender was the son of Sali and Xhemile Malko, who preceded him in death. He leaves behind his wife, Marjana Malko, and his daughters: Fiori (Luis), Kloi (Lorenzo), and Isida (Geoffrey), as well as his grandson, Niovi, and his granddaughter, Nadessa. Skender was a man who touched the lives of everyone he met; he had the kindest heart and was known to offer the shirt off his back to those in need. His presence lit up every room, not just because of his handsome appearance, but because of the warmth and sincerity he radiated. He embodied the values of hard work, resilience, and compassion.

In every aspect of his life, Skender was remarkable. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, ensuring they had everything they needed to thrive in their new home. Yet, no matter how busy he was, he always found time to care for others and enjoy life to the fullest. His generosity extended far beyond his family, reaching friends, neighbours, and even strangers who were fortunate enough to cross his path.

Skender’s passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and selflessness. As we remember him, we celebrate the incredible person he was—a man who was loved by all and who gave so much of himself to make the world a better place.

Rest in peace, Skender. Your legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire us all.

Bledi Doraci

We are all remembered by the impact we've had on others around us. Skender is surely at the top of the list for me not simply as best friend of my dad, but by the direct impact he had on me and my family. Skender’s defining trait was his willingness to help others. He went out of his way to offer support, whether it was through a kind word, a helping hand, or invaluable advice. So, Skender, I thank you for all the companionship you so abundantly gave to me, to my dad and all my family during your time in Bloomington. I'll be forever indebted to your never ceasing helping hand for which you never asked or expected a pay-back. And, I'll remember the jokes, conversations, places, words of kindness and words of advice coming from you, which often help me as I go through my own life. As I'm going back through bits of memory, my body's natural response was a shed tear, testimony of the impact you had on me.
