Sofia Elena Gallegos

Sofia Elena Gallegos, of Raton, NM, passed away suddenly in Albuquerque, NM on September 26, 2020. Sofia was born on May 23, 1980 in Sun Valley, California to Mary Ellen & Danny Gallegos. Sofia was preceded in death by her father Danny; paternal grandmother Eloyda, grandfather Freddie; uncles: Freddie Jr. (Bobo), Rocky, Richard; aunt Ofelia (Huney); cousins Mark and Richard. Maternal side: grandfather Ernest; uncle Armando; cousins Johnny and Matthew. Sofia is survived by her son Edward James (EJ) Gallegos, her mother Mary Ellen Carbajal, her two brothers Ernest Gallegos and David Gallegos; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of her family. Sofia attended New Mexico Highlands University where she pursed a degree to start a career in social work. Sofia had a heart for helping others and wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Sofia was a devoted mother to her son, EJ. Sofia's greatest purpose in life was her role as a mother, and she loved spending time with her son. EJ is forever her pride and joy. Sofia was a woman of incredible strength and beauty. Sofia is remembered for her kind and loving heart, her bright and upbeat personality, her sweet voice, and her laugh. In lieu of flowers, spend time with those you love and tell them how much they mean to you. Sofia's ashes will be interred at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Raton, NM at a later date in 2021. We are so thankful for all of your thoughts and prayers. Sofia will be dearly missed and remembered with love forever.
