Solomon "Sam" "Shlomo Ben Dora" Wald
November 23rd, 1937 - August 7th, 2016
Solomon "Sam" Wald, age 78, of Henderson, died Sunday, August 7, 2016. Sam was born November 23, 1937 in Newark NJ to the late Irving and the late Dora Wald. At the start of his career, Sam worked as a chemist and was instrumental in developing Arm & Hammer laundry detergent. He switched to career to be an insurance agent and worked for Prudential and Allstate insurance companies prior to his retirement. After retirement, he worked as a pharmacy technician for Walgreens. Sam was an avid gardener, producing robust crops of tomatoes. He also enjoyed the stock market. A strong-willed man, he was often offering advice to those who would listen. Sam is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Shirley Wald; children Lisa Esdadt and Lauren Lamustra; stepchildren Christine Miller, Diane (Terry) Mosinski, Steve (Lisa) Mark, and Frank (Christine) Mark; grandchildren Kevin Miller, Lisa Blyler, Kenneth Miller, Steven Mark, Victoria Mark, Kelly (Eli) Mizrachi, Mark Mosinski, Emily Mark and Nicholas Mark; and great-grandchildren Burke Miller, Kendra Miller, Jacob Miller, Rom Mizrachi and Yael Mizrachi. A graveside service will be held 9:00 am on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at King David Memorial Cemetery, 2697 E. Eldorado Ln., Las Vegas, NV. Contributions in Sam's memory may be made to the Ahavas Torah Center, 55 S. Valle Verde Dr. · Suite 430 · Henderson, NV 89012. .
