Sophie Olivia Zimmerman

Sophie Olivia Zimmerman, 12, passed into the arms of Jesus in her sleep on November 30, 2021. Sophie was the daughter of Shawn and Marcey Zimmerman. Sophie was a precious child who truly loved everyone and was a joy to be around. She was born in Columbia, SC on September 24, 2009, and lived in Gaston with her two brothers and parents. She loved all types of music and enjoyed listening to her mother play the piano. Though she could not speak, Sophie could often be found humming “Jesus Loves Me” beside her mom. She loved macaroni & cheese and any toy that made music. She enjoyed being read to and would listen for hours. To know her was to love her. She is survived by her parents, Shawn and Marcey Zimmerman; and four siblings: Chandler Zimmerman (Hannah), Valarey Sims (Hunter), Rosten Zimmerman, and Andrew Zimmerman. She is also survived by her paternal grandparents, Bobby and Emma Lee Zimmerman of Pelion, SC; and maternal grandparents, Grevlyn and Sonja Sanders of Millbrook, AL; great-grandparents, Frank and Ruth Buie of Webb, AL, and Luvenia Sanders of Louisville, AL. Sophie also has numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 4:00-6:00pm at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC. A funeral service will take place on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Williams Family Cemetery, 740 Tindal Road, Pelion, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations can made in memory of Sophie to The Therapy Place, 3620 Covenant Road, Columbia, SC 29204.
