Stanford Joel Sater

Our lovingly devoted father and grandfather, Stanford J. Sater, age 90, was surrounded by his family when he passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2022. Mr. Sater was born in Charleston, West Virginia, on New Year’s Day, 1932. After graduating with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Georgia Tech in 1953, he entered the U.S. Air Force. He also received his master's degree in aeronautical engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, followed by three years at the Special Weapons Center at Kirkland Air Force Base, New Mexico. Upon leaving the Air Force in 1958, he worked for General Electric in Cincinnati, Ohio. During one of his frequent trips to Miami Beach to visit his mother, he met his future wife, Norma. They wed in December 1959 and moved to West Palm Beach, where they started their family. In 1962, they moved to Cocoa Beach and grew the family. Stan worked as an aerospace engineer for McDonnell Douglas at Cape Canaveral from 1962 until his retirement in 1992. He had a knack for problem-solving at work and home. Stan is well-remembered for his honesty, quiet intelligence, and generosity. His greatest love was spending time with his family. He is survived by children, Dr. Craig Sater, Dr. Richard (Pamela) Sater, and Dr. Deborah “Debbie” Carstens; grandchildren, Natalie (Jeremy), Richard “Richie” Jr. (Amy), Cassidy, Christian (Jessica), Ryan, and Lindsay. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sol and Selma Sater; sisters Marjorie Wolk and Barbara Klametz; and wife of over 59 years, Norma. No public funeral or memorial will be held in keeping with his wishes. Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor at the charity of your choice.
