Stanley C. Burroughs, 83, of State Highway 5S, passed away Saturday evening, September 8, 2012, at his home with his loving family at his bed side. Born March 12, 1929 in Morrisville, Vermont, he was the son of the late Carlos and Laura Miller Burroughs. Stan lived most of his life in Hagaman and later the Town of Florida. He was a retired mechanic working for various companies in the capital district. Stan also loved racing stock cars starting at the Perth Race Track and later at the Fonda Speedway for many years. Stanley served with Company G, 105th Infantry, 27th Division, of the New York National Guard during the 1950s. Stan enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and especially spending time with his family. On August 18, 1984 he married the former Sylvia Miner. Besides his wife of 28 years of marriage he is survived by two sons, Douglas C. Burroughs Bonnie of Edinburg and Michael S. Burroughs Kim of Scotia; daughters, Lorraine Stewart Don of Rock Hill, S.C. and Joann Burroughs-Uhlig Paul of Tribes Hill; two brothers, Lawrence Burroughs of Scotia and Richard Burroughs of Fort Johnson; two sisters, Eileen Rosatell and Betty Steiger both of Amsterdam; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. It was the request of Stan that there be no funeral service or calling hours. Cremation has taken place at the Vale Cemetery Crematorium in Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in Stan's memory to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
