Stanley F. Meyer
December 13th, 1928 - June 14th, 2022
Stanley F. Meyer passed away peacefully of natural causes June 14, 2022, in Olympia, Washington, his home of 35 years. He was born December 13, 1928, to George and Edith Bye Meyer in Midland, Michigan. Over the years, he also resided in Buena Park, California, and Bay City, Michigan. Stan married Donna Deen Doan in Midland, Michigan. After her death in 2014, he met Deanna Needles, his now fiancé. He served in the U.S. Navy, stationed in the Great Lakes area, and Jacksonville, Florida. Stan was a dedicated worker and public servant. A few of his jobs were Fire Commissioner of Thurston County Fire Department, Battalion Chief of Santa Fe Springs Fire Department, Mayor of Buena Park, California, as well as being a former police officer and EMT. Service to the community was first and foremost for Stan; he often could be found delivering food and gifts to the underprivileged. Stan’s talents and interests were as varied as his professional life. He loved music and playing the piano, fishing, cooking, and wine making. He was a gemologist, jewelry maker, author, and inventor in the medical field. Christmas was his favorite time of the year. He was a member of the Masons and CSFA. Stan is survived by his son, Stanley F. Meyer Jr.; daughters, Sandra K. (Meyer) Smith and Cheryl L. (Meyer) Vogt; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; fiancé, Deanna Needles and her daughter, Ava Daniels, who viewed Stan as a father figure; and dog, Bella, who loved “Papa.” He was predeceased by his wife, Donna D. Meyer; daughter, Mary A. Travis; and infant grandson, Gregory Shaddox. Services will be held Friday, July 15, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at South Sound Manor, 455 North St. SE, Tumwater, WA 98501. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Thurston County Fire District 6, or Washington State Firefighters Association Benevolent Fund.
