WINTER HAVEN, FL - Stanley David Thompson of Winter Haven, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012 from complications of Parkinson's disease at the Good Shepherd Hospice Forsythe Center. He was 77. A native of Portsmith, Ohio, born January 24, 1935 to Vanzil and Gertrude Mae Benley Thompson, Stanley moved to this area 4 years ago from Mulberry, FL. He was a retired Senior Chief Petty Officer for the US Navy after 23 years of service during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Following retirement, he worked for the US Government in Lakehurst, NJ for 16 years. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, and he was a Baptist. Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Marilyn Marie Thompson of Winter Haven; his brothers: Lowell Thompson of Wisconsin, Jim Thompson of Chicago, IL; and his sister: Shirley Mitchell of Eden, NC.
