Betz, Rossi Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home - Amsterdam
Stanley K. Wojeski
November 29th, 1931 - September 21st, 2013
Our brother Stan passed away recently. He was an outstanding brother and a fine human being. Stan was born and raised in Meco, served 2 years in the army and graduated from Siena College with a degree in business. In 1959, He moved to Miami, Florida and was hired by Delta airlines. A couple years later, he took my brother Greg and I to California on vacation. Greg one year, me the next. We were just young kids then. I guess he knew better than to take us both at the same time. My trip was especially memorable because I got sick in the hotel room the first night. I really made a mess out of that room. It was too late for maid service and we couldn't change rooms because the hotel was booked solid. Stan never missed a beat. He cleaned the room, found a drug store and bought a bottle of Pepto-Bismol for me, and bought himself a bottle of something else as I recall. No doubt he needed it by then. The next day, he left a big tip and a written explanation for the maid and we were off to Disneyland. It was the best time a nine year old kid could have. He also bought Greg and I our first wristwatches. When I went away to college, Stan bought me my first car. During one of the transfers in my career, Stan volunteered to help me load a U Haul truck, travel with me 300 miles and unload it at our destination. This was in the middle of July and it was very hot and humid. Although he was in his late 50's at that time, he never complained and was glad to help. When my nephew Chris was a little boy, Stan would take him to the movies, and on other days take him out for hot dogs at Tegeo's or ice cream at Udderly Delicious. Stan and Chris had their own secret code. Stan lived a modest life. He never had a big house, new car or fancy clothes. More importantly, he had the values of kindness, honesty, fairness, and consideration of others. He thought the world of his family. The lessons he taught us and the personal sacrifices he made throughout his life, will benefit his family for years to come. Stan was that kind of guy. He was that kind of brother. He was that kind of man. Rest in peace brother, you earned it. Stan is survived by two brothers; Timothy Wojeski of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and Gregory Wojeski Marie of Meco. He is also survived by a nephew Christopher Wojeski Jennifer of Gloversville and their daughter, Bryn Wojeski. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 am Tuesday October 8, 2013 at The Church of the Holy Spirit, 149 S. Main St. Gloversville. Urn burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. The family will receive friends on Monday October 7, 2013 from 4-7 pm at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Elm and Carlton Streets, Buffalo, N.Y. 14263.
