Stephen Jesse McShane

July 31st, 1920 - August 20th, 2011

Rev. Stephen Jesse McShane passed away at home on Saturday, August 20th. He had recently celebrated his ninety-first birthday with a large family gathering in Tigard's Cook Park. He is survived by his seven children: Judy Williams of Daphne, Alabama, Marcia Wirsig of Beaverton, Oregon, Bruce McShane of Nashville, Tennessee, Nancy Barrett of Longmont, Colorado, David McShane of Richland, Washington, Peggy McShane of Hillsboro, Oregon and Betsy Malone of Vancouver, Washington. He is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren. Marion McShane, his wife of sixty-four years, passed away in 2008. After receiving his training from Wheaton College and Princeton Seminary Reverend McShane was ordained a Presbyterian Minister in 1945. During his sixty-six years as a minister, he served Presbyterian churches in Colorado, Montana, Missouri, and Oregon. After his retirement, he became an avid golfer. He served on the City Council of King City, Oregon and was elected Mayor in 1990. He was active in the Kiwanis organization, serving several terms as the President of the Tetrapolitan Kiwanis Chapter, and as a member of the Cedar Hills Kiwanis. He was a member of the Presbytery of the Cascades at the time of his death. A public memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 28th at 2:00 p.m. at the Calvin Presbyterian Church, 10445 SW Canterbury Lane, Tigard, Oregon 97224. Remembrances can be made to the Calvin Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund. Arrangements by Autumn Funerals, Cremation & Burial, Tigard, Oregon.
