All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
Stephen Pflug
April 14th, 1947 - June 20th, 2019
Surrounded by loved ones, Stephen Glen Pflug passed away at his home on June 20 in Wheat Ridge, CO. He was born April 14, 1947 at Mare Island Naval Hospital, Vallejo, CA, to Glen and Arline Pflug and was the eldest of five children. Steve’s first seven years were spent in Pueblo, CO. In 1954 his family was moved to the newly selected site of the USAFA and he attended a two-room school in Woodmen Valley. Different moves around Colorado brought the family to Divide, CO, where Steve learned to ski and a later move to Camp Hale, CO, in 1963 enabled him to be on one of the first high school Ski Teams to ski at Vail, CO. Woodland Park, CO, was the last move for the family and Steve graduated from Woodland Park High School in 1966. After graduation Steve signed up for the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion, better known as the Navy Seabees. He was stationed in Gulf Port, MS. In 1977 he graduated from Colorado State University Bachelors program in Construction Management. During his career he worked on various multi-million dollar projects throughout Denver as construction manager, construction management oversight inspector, project manager and lead quality control. He was known especially for his detailed reports and having projects finished on time and on budget. He married his forever bride, Carole Kozar on June 30, 1973 in Ashland, WI. Throughout their 29 years together before Carole passed away, they had a passion for life, explored new places and new opportunities and traveled to other countries. They also spoiled all of their nieces and nephews. Steve was a member of Miller Street Church of Christ. On April 13, 2016, Steve graduated from the Wheat Ridge Police Department Volunteer Academy. This was a way Steve could give back to his community by helping to assist officers in community events or wherever he might be needed. Building scaled heavy equipment models was a lifelong hobby of his. Being a cowboy, rodeo was one of his much loved spectator sports. Aside from enjoying the mountains, Lake Superior was another favorite place. He liked to water ski and was fascinated by the transportation history of the Great Lakes. He restored and enjoyed driving his 1947 Ford Ferguson tractor to plow driveways and sidewalks in his neighborhood. Getting together with family or friends and folks from the neighborhood didn’t require an occasion. For Steve, it was the occasion. Steve is survived by his son Travis and grandchildren; Tanner, Taylor, Jessica and Kasten. Sisters: Peggy (Terry) Merrill, Albany, OR; Carol Pflug, Colorado Springs, CO, and Kay (Robert) Wendel, Bacliff, TX. Sister in Law, Melody Pflug, Centennial, CO. Uncles: Clyde (Lloyal) Keith, Colorado Springs, CO and Bill (AJ) Keith, Wheat Ridge, CO; many nieces, nephews and cousins and his extended loving Kozar family as well. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Carole, and his brother Barry Pflug. A celebration of Steve’s life will be June 29, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Miller Street Church of Christ, 4595 Miller Street, Wheat Ridge. You are invited to a reception after the service. Our family appreciates each of you so much for your kind expressions of sympathy and more especially, for loving Steve as we do. We want to thank Lutheran Hospice for their gentle and loving care to not only Steve, but also to his family. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Steve’s name may be sent to: Lutheran Hospice Care, 3210 Lutheran Parkway, Wheat Ridge, CO 80
