Steve Pavlus

Steve Pavlus, Sr., 86, of Fonda, New York passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at St. Vincent?s Hospital, Erie, Pennsylvania. The son of Stefan and Beta Kucherak Pavlus, he was born on June 28, 1920 in St. Clairsville, Ohio. The family also resided in Little Falls, New York before moving to the Fonda area. Mr. Pavlus was a dairy farmer, and in later years was employed in road construction. He was a charter member 1948 of the Town of Mohawk Fire Department and still attended monthly meetings on a regular basis until recently. He was also a member of the Fonda Reformed Church for more than 60 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Hazel Flint Pavlus, who passed away on August 22, 1999. He was also predeceased by his parents and siblings: John, Paul, Anna, Betty, Mike and Susie. Survivors include his loving children, Steve, Jr. and his wife Kathe of Gloversville, New York, Constance Clouthier and her husband Oscar of North East, Pennsylvania, Robert Pavlus and his wife Karen of Lutz, Florida and Linda VanAuskas and her husband Frank of Gloversville, New York and eight grandchildren, Michael Pavlus of Atlanta, Georgia, Wayne Clouthier of Erie, Pennsylvania, Stacy Pavlus of Watervliet, New York, Eric Clouthier and his wife Julianne of Gloversville, Douglas Pavlus of Ft. Pierce, Florida, Brett Pavlus and his wife Jeanie of Gloversville, Tanya Pavlus of Lithia, Florida and Courtney VanAuskas of Troy, New York. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Lauryn Pavlus and Luke Pavlus, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2006, at 10:00AM at the Fonda Reformed Church, 21 Broadway, Fonda, NY with the Rev. Christopher DeGraff presiding. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, December 17, 2006, from 4:00-7:00PM at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fonda Reformed Church or to the Town of Mohawk Fire Department. The Town of Mohawk Fire Company #222 will meet on Sunday at 6:00 P.M. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home.
